My fiancee and I went on a hot summer day last month and the food was AMAZING! We sat outside under an umbrella and it was so nice to be able to see the people on the street. We shared the Pork Quesadilla appetizer and the brisket macaroni and cheese entree. I can't recall the name of the macaroni and cheese entree, but it was one of the most amazing things I have ever eaten. It was a block of macaroni and cheese with brisket on top, smothered in sweet BBQ sauce. We both left happy and full. Next time I have to remember to bring booze because it is BYOB.

My husband and I were looking for a reasonable priced meal. Bitter Bob's menu pleased us both. We couldn't decide so we split a pulled pork dinner and a brisket dinner. Both with BBQ sauces. Lots of meat and good flavor. By the sides were very disappointing. Bland Mac and cheese, baked bean melange that had an odd flavor, cilantro cole slaw that was very vinegary. Delicious corn bread but it would have been even better with butter. The service was great. But I don't think we would go again.

I had the pork rib platter that included Mac and cheese, collard greens, and corn bread. Personally I think the collars greens we're the worst thing about my meal. The cornbread was OK but it reminded me of the store bought kind. The Mac and cheese was my fav, only because the ribs had a lot of fat on them to fully enjoy. On the upside of my experience the wait staff are friendly, the place is cozy and the Chilli is AMAZING! So, I'll recommend it but not this dish in particular.

I had such high hopes for this place. The menu was everything you could want in a BBQ joint and the prices were fair; but I was very underwhelmed with quality of food. The atmosphere is super casual, great for groups and families. Service was fine, it was a slow afternoon but the waitress was friendly and attentive. We played tic tac toe and hang man on the table with the provided crayons. I ordered the MacDaddy (fried mac & cheese topped with coleslaw and pulled pork with fries on the side). The pulled pork was flavorless and a little dry but at least the BBQ sauce was there to save it. The sauce was just the right tang, and I wish I would have ordered a side of more. The coleslaw was runny and watery. The 'fried mac & cheese' was obviously premade, probably frozen at some point. It was dry and flavorless, and room temperature. I probably had about three bites, only in hopes that it would get better after scraping off the burnt fried coating. My boyfriend ordered the Husky Nutbuster, a whole bunch of crap jammed into a wrap (burger, chicken finger, pork roll, bacon and cheese, just to name a few). He was satisfied with it; but that might have just been because he was so hungry. He offered me a bite and it honestly tasted like a mouthful of mush. No distinct flavors of anything that you would assume to be so delicious. So sad. The fries were hard as a rock and barely warm at best. Although I probably would not revisit on my own suggestion, I wouldn't completely rule this place out based solely on the flavor of their sauce. Maybe we just came at the wrong time. *sigh* Oh Bitter Bob's, I wish you were better. Instead I left disappointed, disillusioned, and hungry.

Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. If you feel like BBQ and happen to be in New Hope this place is a no brainer. I recommend that you get the sampler with the sweet mashed potatoes and collared greens.

Great Sunday morning breakfast stop in New Hope. Daily specials never dissapoint. Some of my favorites are the Scrapple Benedict and the chirizo omelet. Don't be afraid to ask for off menu bbq to fill your omelet. Bring a bottle of champagne, sit outside and enjoy town sights.

Good food, no complaints. Every member of my dinner party came away completely satisfied, albeit not overly impressed, but, again, rather satisfied, which, in my opinion, is a completely reasonable and rather sought-after reaction when trying a restaurant for the first time, having not even checked its yelp reviews. I went with the "Husky Nutbuster," which was a decision based solely on its name. I didn't look to see what the "Husky Nutbuster" was to know that I wanted to try it. I'll say it was good and leave it at that. Service was reliable. We ate outside and received good attention from a not-so-bitter waiter.

I have eaten here twice. Both times the food was just average. Great service and dog friendly though. I would not get the sampler platter again.

Great comfort food at a decent price. Their pulled pork and brisket are great paired with collard greens and sweet potato fries. My entire family enjoys Bitter Bobs' cuisine.

This review is based solely on breakfast, but after all the great dinner reviews I will have to go back and check out the dinner menu. We walked over on an early summer day, and there was only one other customer there. We waited a loooooong time to get our food. I got the French toast and home fries. The French toast was very...wet? I have never had French toast like it. I was afraid to eat the whole thing in case there was too much raw egg in it. I would have sent it back to cook longer, but it had taken so long to come out and I wasn't sure I had the patience. The home fries were very greasy and unflavored. I have never been back, despite it being right down the street and a convenient walk. However, looks like I will have to go back and check the dinner menu out.

So i went to new hope just like i usually do every few months, and after we saw a play at the Bucks County Playhouse, I saw bitter bobs. I was also thinking about going to Fran's pub (right next door) but the menu over at bobs looked WAYY better. I'm a BBQ guy so bobs was my choice. The wait was decently long, but the food came out awesome! The fries were amazing, and everything there was amazing. Overall, i just love this place. Its definitely one of my favorite places to eat in New Hope. Highly recommended.

We grabbed some seats outside and had a great weekend afternoon lunch! Be advised, it's BYOB! The food selection is decent though. large variety of apps, entrees and sides. There are a number of meats to choose from and you get to choose your type of BBQ sauce and your sides.I wasn't crazy about the baked beans but everything else was great! Price range was moderate and the service was good. Friendly and the food came out quickly. The parking is the typical situation for most places in New Hope.

I have been to New Hope many times but today was the first time I stopped for lunch here. Specials were excellent. Loved the BBQ and service. On the way in we were told by a diner leaving that that the Bowl Of Deliciousness was amazing. His look of satisfaction and a mild food coma was a great selling point! I would definitely return.

Great place ! Easily the best mac and cheese I've ever had in New Hope. And of course their BBQ is rich in flavor. If you're not sure what to get, go for their sampler platter. All 3 BBQs on one plate.

Charming outdoor patio with real southern BBQ. The menu has so many great choices ... difficult to choose. Lindsay, our server, is knowledgable, friendly, adorable.

Excellent service, beautiful outdoor seating. Fried Mac & Cheese with pulled chicken on top? Strange, yes, but also very tasty! My wife had nachos (actual nachos made from scratch in house) and she loved it. Good price for being in New Hope (many expensive places abound). This will be our new goto place when we visit New Hope.

  • Matt M.

The Bowl of Deliciousness is awesome. Wife had the nachos, loved them. My finicky 10 year old daughter and her friend couldn't settle on an item from the kids menu. The both wanted grilled cheese (not on the menu). I asked the waitress if they could do a couple grilled cheeses. Not only did they say yes, but gave the girls their choice of breads and cheeses. Outstanding!

We are locals and struggle with New Hope dining options due to over priced meals, and of course, parking in New Hope. We discovered the municipal lot right up the hill, which makes exploring more desirable. We were looking for a casual BYOB that we can get into quick, eat outside and people watch, and of course, enjoy the food. The location of Bitter Bob's is perfect for ambiance. We got right in on a Saturday night (with our 3 year old), and got a table outside for some of the best people watching New Hope has to offer. The staff and service are stellar. Over-staffed and pleasant is exactly what Bitter Bob's has to offer--it was an enjoyable experience. Everyone was super-attentive and genuinely friendly. The BBQ style is unique. It's definitely not North Carolina style, not Texas style and most definitely not Memphis style. We got the sampler platter and it was St. Louis style ribs and all pulled meat (including the beef brisket, whah), with a side of a tangy BBQ sauce and vinegar. The meat was super tender and average on flavor. A fan of Texas BBQ or Memphis BBQ, and a more smokier taste, it was tough to be wow'd by the presentation and flavor. The portion sizes were perfect, and the sides were original. We got the baked beans and cilantro cole slaw. I think the beans had a smokier taste than the meat! The cornbread was dry and nothing exciting. Having gone on Memphis BBQ tour, we have high standards for BBQ. 3 stars is a middle of the road review for me. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't superior. We would Give Bitter Bob's another try for sure.

Went there this past Saturday with my partner. Absolutely LOVE New Hope but hate how expensive things are. This place I wasn't sure of at first since I am not a big BBQ fan but we went in and it was awesome! Had the Bowl of Deliciousness and was very impressed! You pick two items and then a meat topping. I went with double mac and cheese and pulled pork on top. Then you get cheese sauce and BBQ sauce. I had it on the side because I didn't know how I would like it. I'm not a sauce person! LOL Needless to say I ate the whole thing without the sauces because I forgot them! My partner had the wings Chip-tole and regular BBQ wings and said they were perfect! The other perk is Free Refills on drinks especially on hot days! The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and if they didn't know something they asked the chef to know. Its a very nice atmosphere to eat inside or outside as well. I highly recommend this place.

Awesome food & great owner!! We found BBQ Bobs to cater our wedding just weeks before the big day. We had originally planned to use another caterer that lost our order and made a mess of things. In a panic, we found BBQ Bob's and we are soooo very happy we did! Bob was nothing but extra helpful from the menu planning to set up. He even helped make sure our gluten free guests would have something to eat AND he helped order 360lbs of ice for us days before the wedding. Our menu included crabcakes, pork quesadillas, cornbread, chicken skewers with peppers & onions, mac n cheese, baby squash medley and herbed potatoes. Everything was great and the crabcakes & quesadillas were to die for!!! I can't recommend BBQ Bob's enough for your catering event!

Been to New Hope hundreds of times, but it's usually crowded, so we never get to eat anywhere. This particular day, it was a bit slow, so we checked Yelp to help us decide where to eat. Decided on Bitter Bobs. We sat outside and were seated rather quickly. The menu items looked pleasing, I decided on the Mac Daddy. Boyfriend got the tasting plate. Literally less than 5 minutes later, our orders were ready. We were amazed and pleased. The Mac daddy is a brilliant invention. Fried macaroni and cheese, topped with coleslaw and pulled pork (you have a choice here of chicken and another meat, which I've since forgotten) Dug in and was enjoying it to the fullest..... Until I got to the middle! The macaroni and cheese went from piping hot around the outside to progressively cold on the inside. I'm assuming that part of the dish is prepared prior to serving and stored in a fridge. Heated up right before serving and then topped with the rest of the dish. Needless to say, the fast service was no longer appreciated. The outside was pretty crispy however, so I'm not sure what went wrong here.... Boyfriends food was good, but nothing to rave about.

This restaurant was recommended by someone I met in the area. I had never been to new hope but fell in love with the town after my visit. There's parking on the strip and around back. Decided to split the sampler which consisted of ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken. It also came with two sides and corn bread. We decided on Mac n cheese and sweet potato fries. The waitress informed us there's a $5 dollar charge to share a plate so we ordered the BBQ beans instead. Might as well get more food if you're going to pay money anyway. My favs were the ribs, brisket, BBQ beans and the cornbread. I don't usually like BBQ beans but these were perfect. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't homemade lemonade. I am not quite sure how the mac n cheese wasn't good. It's a BBQ place, how can they mess up mac n cheese lol.

First let me start with this was my first time in New Hope and I was very impressed by how beautiful and welcoming this town is. I only came for a couple of hours but will be back soon to spend a weekend. This restaurant was recommended by someone and it didn't disappoint. My friend and I ordered the sampler (pulled pork, brisket, chicken) which comes with corn bread and two sides, we went with Mac & cheese, sweet potato fries and beans (we ordered an extra side since they charge $5 for sharing so might as well get something extra) The food didn't take very long to come which was great since we were starving. I thought everything was good my favorites being the beans, brisket and corn bread. The only thing I didn't like and would not get again was the Mac and cheese. If you are looking for some good bbq or a comfort meal then this is your place.

I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars, but alas, I will have to settle for 3. As much as I wanted to love this place, since I do appreciate good BBQ, I was a bit underwhelmed by the food. Don't get me wrong, the outdoor seating and the fact that it's BYOB are two HUGE bonuses. However, the food itself didn't blow me away, so that's why I had to round down for my review. I thought the pork was a bit dry in the sampler platter we had. The cornbread was just meh too. The service was good, as we never felt rushed, and at the same time, our waitress never went MIA. I'd give it another try, because I'd like to think maybe if I had gotten something a little heartier to eat beyond the sampler platter, I might be happy. We still had a good time enjoying our beer outside on a beautiful Sunday. That in and of itself in combination with being able to people watch on Main St. was good enough to make sure we didn't leave bitter ;)

Spent the day in New Hope with my husband, our three month old daughter, and our fur baby- Ginger the dog. We were welcomed graciously by Erika, who was seriously the nicest, most thoughtful and appropriately attentive waitress ever, and enjoyed a great lunch at Bitter Bobs! We had the BBQ seitan, which was amazing and a pleasant vegetarian surprise on the menu! Sweet potato fries and mac and cheese were equally great! We will definitely come back!

Omg can I be the new chef at Bitter Bob's please? I've never had such bland BBQ in my life. I got the sampler and I couldn't tell the differences between pulled pork, bbq chicken and the brisket. That should never be the case. I had to slatherrrr on bbq sauce that they gave me on the side and then i just gave up. The fries are very fast-foody, not that i don't like that, but at a bbq place I expected better. I like that it's BYOB and the customer service is very good but for a prime location in new hope they should reinvent their recipes for the bbq. Don't let me get started on the mac and cheese, easy mac does a better job. I hope management takes constructive criticism because I love bbq and i love new hope. and I would just love more seasoning on bbq, like maybe a little more bbq/smokiness on the meats?

We picked bitter bobs because they were one of the restaurants that allowed dogs to sit outside. They were even nice enough to bring our dogs water...but that was about all that was nice. No one at my table really liked their food. The bbq sauce on my friends ribs and chicken was too spicy for them to eat. My crab cakes came out 20 minutes later then everyone else's food due to a kitchen mix up..and then they were horrible anyway. It took forever to get the check and get the bill paid as our waitress stopped checking in. Would not go back.

Bowl of Deliciousness was superb. Dessert was a chocolate peanut butter bomb with sweet cream. Outside dining on a beautiful day with my wife and two dogs. This place never disappoints.

Good cheap bbq with good bbq sauce (didn't like the vinegar based one as much since it was on the spicier side). We got the bbq tasting platter which came with two ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and pulled brisket. It came with a piece of corn bread (yum!) and two sides (We got the cilantro cole slaw and mashed potato). With a iced tea, a meal for two light eaters was only $16!

Absolutely monster portions and great food. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich which came with two sides.. I got macaroni and cheese and fries as my sides.. and I remember when the waitress brought it out, I said "Oh my god" out loud. It was that much food. The chicken was great.. Had great flavor and spice. Mac n cheese was a little soggy, but tasted great and the monster portion of fries was awesome. Let me also add that it is BYOB. How great is that? Really recommended if you want some great BBQ in New Hope.

A real disappointment! We started with the BBQ Brisket Sliders and it took over 20 minutes to come out and there were only one other couple in the place. It wasn't brisket, looked like pulled pork and dried out. Not even the BBQ sauce could bring this back to life. The entrees were equally as bad and took another 25 minutes to appear. Ribs were dried out and I've had better sauce from a grocery store. Sides were sweet potatoes fries (frozen) and baked beans which were also dry and old looking. Bitter Bob's was a Bitter Experience.

Best nachos I've ever had says the vegan who ate at the BBQ a place. I love this location and every spot it has been for years. Pulled up right out front and sat at a table outside on a gorgeous day. The smell ... OMG. Yum. I love that they offer seitan options! I was going to get the salad with seitan but the nachos were calling me. So glad I went with them. They were perfectly puffed and crisp. I asked for seitan on them and they obliged. Shredded lettuce, pico and beans. The cheese was not missed at all. My friend did get mac and cheese which looked amazing though! I'm definitely bringing back my southern food loving carnivore hubby. Reasonably priced. Fast service. Outdoor seating. And adorable framed photos of dogs by the restrooms.

We walked into this place because of the gluten-free options. The food is great and there's gluten-free options which is rare for a bbq place!

With a couple girlfriends today for a low key bday celebration. Saw all the interesting veg options so decided to stop in here. Dude I got BBQd seitan on a wrap. No one around me has seitan - much less drenched in sweet n tangy BBQ sauce. The cilantro slaw I got to accompany it was not as amazing but it was nice to go to a place with veggie options in the style of the cuisine being served. Service was friendly and efficient. Location outdoors perfect for people watching!

  • Rachel L.

Other reviewers were spot on - beautiful town and this restaurant has a good location within it with a nice enough front patio. The bbq, though, tasted quite generic (sauces tasted bottled and nothing unique), presentation was poor, side dishes bland. Given the number of other nearby choices I probably wouldn't rush back here yet. Probably more like 2.5 stars out of 5

Oh my holy God lord! Am I ever sorry that I've passed this place by for a few years now, before deciding to stop in this past weekend. On what was the first sunny weekend of 2015, my friend and I decided to walk Newhope and hit some of the shops. While he was finishing up a purchase, he suggested I check out the menu board for Bitter Bobs. "Barbecue sounds so good right now" he said... "it'll be a bit pricey, I'll bet" (I said). Boy, was I ever wrong! happily, this Sunday afternoon at 2 PM the place was not bonkers crowded and we were able to get a seat immediately. The staff is bright and cheerful and accommodating, and I was very pleased with the attentive service before I even got my Diet Coke. Being new to Bitter Bob's, we decided to order the sampler platter, and a order of wings (smoked) with barbecue sauce and share the lot. We were beyond pleased! My sampler platter consisted of a generous portion of shredded chicken, pulled pork, and some brisket, three decent sized ribs, and two sides ( BBQ beans and collard greens ). With every next bite my eyes rolled back into my head. The beans as a side were SO good, we ordered seconds. This is the best barbecue I have ever had, north of Memphis. Hands-down. The smoked chicken wings with an accompaniment of barbecue sauce on the side were equally delicious. I have never had such tasty wings before in my entire life. Our late lunch/early dinner was so good, we ordered two entrées to take home to his parents... It was that good! They met with equal raves. And those from a Southern woman who can cook! I have a new favorite place to eat barbecue on a casual weekend, and I can tell you happily I cannot wait to return. Whatever you folks at bitter Bob's are doing, keep doing it. - Perfection! Go.

bitter bob's bbq is of the most casual and inexpensive restaurants on the bustling stretch of main street in new hope... and combined with the fact that it's byob (get a few take-out bottles at fran's pub next door, or stop at the liquor store a few clocks down) and has some of the best outdoor seating in new hope, it's a total win. their bbq sauce is phenomenal (pretty sure it's improved since last year), and they even sell it by the pint if you ask (super reasonable, like $3). i had a pulled pork sammy with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. slather on the bq sauce, top with the coleslaw, and devour. SO GOOD. and the sweet potato fries are bangin'. the mac daddy is something else... a pile of pulled pork and coleslaw sitting atop a fried island of macaroni-and-cheese. slathered in bbq sauce, of course. whoa, lethal but delicious! the regular fries were yummy too. add in the perfect seats outdoors under an umbrella, a couple of arnold palmers, and the awesomeness of new hope people watching... perfect. service is still a bit hit-or-miss, but oh well. reasonable prices, good portion sizes, prime location, byob, outdoor seating.... dealwithitbro.

I really loved this place. Every time I'm in the area I'm going to go here. Really it's that good. While you wait for your food you can draw on the table or even play games. That's fun and it makes the time go by fast. They are very attentive and super nice. The BBQ pork quesadillas are to die for. They are super delicious. The tortilla they put it nj is different. The meat is cooked perfectly and the BBQ sauce is delicious. Finger liking good. Then to top it off they have this flavorful mango salsa that should be put on every bite to enhance the flavor. Sour cream is not given so you have to ask for it, they might charge. The hummus platter was good yet the chips were not as crunchy as pita chips. They were like pita bread chips, different but still good. They have outdoor seating which is nice too.

We usually visit Havana across the street but last year, we decided to eat somewhere new. After walking out of Suzie's Hot Sauce, we noticed Bitter Bob's. Worked for us. Very nice smoky BBQ ribs, great sandwiches and sweet potato fries. The brisket is delicious, but the portion too small. Baked beans are not cooked long enough for me and the cornbread is meh. It's nice inside but the outside dog friendly space is great too. Only drawback is the constant motercycle roar fries my brain. But for me, that's a problem throughout New Hope. Only service flaw in our three visits is the staff clearing plates before everyone has finished. Personal pet peeve of mine. BB serves some impressive BBQ for the area. We will definitely be back.

I was very impressed with this place. We went with our 2 kids (age 2&3) and our dog. We sat on the patio and had burgers. The kids split a kids chicken tender meal. All delicious. Great place to sit and eat and relax. The staff was wonderful, the food came quickly, and we had a wonderful time. We'll definitely return next time we're in New Hope.

Dog friendly and vegan friendly. As a vegan I was pleasantly surprised to find a vegan oti on on the menu (seitan BBQ), and it was delicious! The service was very friendly, and they let us sit outside with our doggie

Definitely not the best BBQ I ever had, but it was some serious eats. They gave us a lot of food for $13! We got the sampler plate which was brisket, pulled chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. I loved the ribs! The Mac and cheese was okay, my husband said I make better, and the cornbread was dry... But all in all, fair prices, decent food. We will most likely be back.

We love BBQ food and this place definitely didn't disappoint! You get tons of food and everything we had was delicious. I had the BBQ pulled chicken. It had great flavor and was nice and juicy. My boyfriend had the BBQ pulled pork and said the same! Everything tasted like good home cooking. The service was great and quick. We would definitely to back. We want to try the bowl of deliciousness.

The food here is beyond delicious! We've eaten here a few times and always leave feeling full and happy! After visiting their stand at this year's Chili Cook Off, I had to order a cup of chili at the restaurant. It was a little spicier than I had anticipated, but it was so delicious I couldn't put it down! We brought several (picky) people here, none of which have been disappointed yet! The only 2 issues we have are finding parking and the indifference of the waitstaff. If you're planning to spend a significant amount of time eating and walking around, spend the $10 for all day parking at one of the lots. As for the waitstaff, though, that's something you can't really avoid. For the most part, they seemed very annoyed to be 'bothered' by guests... hopefully that will improve with time.

Went on Memorial Day and it wasn't too crowded. Plenty of seating outside, although I didn't go in. I had the brisket platter with cornbread, mac and cheese, and beans, and my boyfriend had the chicken breast sandwich platter with corn bread, mashed potatoes and beans. We both thought the beans were the highlight of the meal, but were highly disappointed by the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The mashed potatoes were bland and overly starchy while the mac and cheese was gritty, greasy and underseasoned. I enjoyed the cornbread a lot (it was the sweet cake like type). My boyfriend said the chicken sandwich was ok but he had to add a lot of bbq sauce. My brisket was a little dry and came out cold, but was extremely tender and smokey. Overall it was a bit disappointing, though I would definitely return for the beans.

Gosh I wish I knew this review (yes mine) existed Before we wasted our money and hunger time. The ribs and Brisket and 99% of the pricey side dishes were So spicy that we could not eat it! Couldn't even taste the BBQ flavor because it was embalmed -- yes like dead body-- in too many spices-- pepper or something gross. Can someone tell them that Good BBQ doesn't need to put a fire hole In your throat to be good?!! Expensive and gross. Better off steaming my own bbq.

We have eaten breakfast there now three times and while it is very heavy it is very good! If you are looking for yogurt and granola go somewhere else but if you love the name a bowl of deliciousness try it and enjoy! Very clean and the staff is super friendly!!!!!!!' Can't wait to try dinner there and by the way I am a vegetarian! I have heard the BBQ is fabulous!

Great, tasty food. We had the sampler, and there wasn't a single thing on there we didn't like (loved the Mac and cheese). Always happy to find a genuine homemade bbq place. This was our second visit and it's quickly becoming a regular stop here in New Hope.

First off I'd like to apologize to the staff for writing this honest opinion, but the point of sites like this is to recommend good restaurants and tell you which to avoid. This is obviously the latter. Fortunately I had a sweet waitress and delicious byob beer. Went for new hope restaurant week, so granted my entree may have been out of the chef's comfort zone. That being said, I started with completely inedible chili. We were told it contained chorizo... But what the waitress meant to say was hotdog. Honestly I think while seasoning the dish, the lid of a chipotle chili spice bottle must have come off. It was awful. I then had the pork chops, which were obviously of low quality and poorly prepared. At least they were consistent, because I finished with the worst bread pudding of my life. Typically I eat an entire dish, but here at Bitter Bobs I couldn't stomach more than a few mouthfuls. I don't even want to waste any more words on this terrible meal, just don't go.

I've been coming here since the restaurant opened, and will continue to be a patron: the food here is amazing!! My most recent visit was a business lunch with a customer, and both of them loved their experience. I had a vegetarian and a carnivore for company, and they each thoroughly enjoyed their lunch selections: a veggie burger and a BBQ sample platter. Previously, I've come here for a Sunday brunch, and dinners, too: only praise for the menu - the BBQ dishes are delicious, tender, fall-off-the-bone-finger-licking-good! The side offerings [cilantro slaw, mac and cheese] are all sumptuous. No comments on dessert, as I never have any room. My only comment would be on the wait staff: most of the time they are either new and unsure of themselves, which translates into unstable service, or too rushed and almost give an air of "I can't be bothered". Hope they will find the happy middle - someone who is confident, engaging with diners, prompt and responsive. This is a BYOB, so arm yourself with a bottle of your favorite wine, or a six-pack, sit back, take your time, and enjoy the experience. In warm months, make sure to sit outdoors, relish the beautiful weather, take it the surroundings, and do some people watching while dining.

Actual things we ordered when we came here for lunch last week: The Porkstrosity and the Husky Nutbuster. Both were freakin' delicious. Bitter Bob's is BYOB so feel free to bring your own booze to go with your delicious BBQ fare. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area, which I love, though I have yet to bring my excitable Norweigan Elkhound here as I like to be able to eat with two hands.... instead of clutching his leash desperately while I try to keep him from happily greeting everyone that walks by. I've only been here twice so far, but both experiences were A+.

For BBQ in the Northeast, this place is a great find. Yes, I did just say the "Northeast," because it's hard to find good barbecue north of the Mason-Dixon Line. If you find yourself in New Hope, PA (or Lambertville, NJ), this place is certainly worth the meal! Great value, friendly staff, and it's BYO.

I emailed bob recently, asking why he doesn't serve baby backs, I normally dislike spares, too tough and chewy. Bob promised me his were fall off the bone tender. He did NOT disappoint! I couldn't even eat them with my hands! I picked up the bone and the meat stayed on the plate. DELICIOUS! Best BBQ I've had in a while! My one complaint was the cornbread was dry, I LOVE moist cornbread. But hey, if that's my only complaint, they're doing something right! Yum!

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. I had the daddy Mac which was fried Mac with brisket, coleslaw, and BBQ. It was delicious. The table has crayons so you can color it. I highly recommend eating here if your in New Hope.

Had brunch on busy day; I think they used oil more than necessary, my pancake come out with some surface fried and crispy. My husband's omelette come with a coat of oil in the plate.

Surprisingly good BBQ in the heart of New Hope I was skeptical, but the stream of smoke pouring from the rooftop vent was enough to convince me to try Bitter Bob's BBQ. WARNING: The style here is unique. Throw out any expectations of "proper" barbeque -- whether Texas or Carolina or Kansas City, you won't find it here. Bob's has its own style. I tried the brisket platter. I expected to see sliced brisket with that visible smoke ring. What arrived instead was a mound of pulled brisket, cooked so long that the fat breaks down and the meat falls apart. The smoke flavor was evident, but wasn't terribly strong. What it lacked in smokiness it more than made up for in tenderness. On the platter were a piece of cornbread and 4 ramekins containing vinegar, a slightly sweet BBQ sauce, and 2 sides of your choice. The beef portion is substantial, so I skipped the potatoes and macaroni and chose the two cole slaws. Both were terrific -- a fantastic compliment to the richness of the brisket. My favorite was the "cilantro slaw," which I highly recommend. Don't worry, it's not a strong cilantro flavor. Just crisp and tasty when scooped up with that smoky, tender beef. My only disappointment was the corn bread. It's so easy to make good cornbread, yet this was about as lame as it gets. Just a big, dry, cakey block of corn meal and sugar. Yech. Still, it was a good experience and I would definitely eat here again.

Food was pretty bad. BBQ was extremely oily but dry. Sides were subpar too. Mashed potatoes were dry and coleslaw was too tangy. Go elsewhere.

I am definitely a fan of Bitter Bob's and we will most likely go back. I cannot give them 5 stars because I am from KC so I grew up on BBQ. I agree with other people who have said that the meat could have been a little smokier, but the meat was still very tender. Also, being a picky chicken eater, there were no bad parts in the pulled chicken. The potato skins were pretty good. I had the nachos, which reminded me of a dish from back home. Portion sizes are great and well worth the price. Service was great to, never had to wait for a water refill or a plate to be cleared!!!

I wish I'd thought to photograph the Breakfast "Bowl of Deliciousness" before I was half way through it. Sorry about the half eaten photo, but I wanted to remember it forever. It was that good. It's a good thing that the medical establishment decided that saturated fat is now ok, and that sugar, carbs and lack of exercise are now the bad guys, cause this is the most fattening and delicious bowl of food you will ever have for breakfast. My combo contained home fries (complex carbs y'all..that's ok, LOL) covered in shredded cheddar that melts upon impact, topped with bacon, and eggs (I chose over easy so the yoke would spread all over everything.). Then comes the surprise...hollandaise sauce over the top, and also infused throughout the bowl...because there just wasn't quite enough fat without it. The big surprise for me was that it was good Hollandaise sauce, homemade not mix. I sat outside eating, sun on my face, coffee by my side, and a bowl of heavenly flavors making their way to my happy, waiting mouth. As Guy Fieri says,"It's a party in your mouth.". I could compare it to other things, but you get the drift. I look forward to trying other things here too, but for now, I can't stop getting the same thing every time we go there. We also met "The" Bob, and he graciously spoke with us for 10 minutes, explaining quite expertly how to make his Hollandaise sauce. Also, we caught him on a day when he was not Bitter Bob (I don't think he wants people to know about his other soft, nice side). We will be back soon. Thanks Bob, excellent attentive hostesses and waiters/waitresses, and also the talented chefs!

We ate here for the first time last weekend. Both my wife and I had the pork and fried macaroni sandwich which was amazing. I think that sandwich could make them famous. Good service got it in and out too since I mentioned we were pressed for time. I have 3 kids and they have a good kids menu too.

I checked in to Bitter Bobs with my wife and twin baby boys in tow. It is conveniently located along the shopping epicenter in New Hope PA. The outdoor seating and the idea of some decent BBQ got us in our seats and we would stay there for two hours. The staff is comprised of summer job students. Some were polite but they were all distracted with each other and overwhelmed when focused on waiting. Our waiter was a teenager and he was failing at all of his tables. We watched him spill food on an elderly woman and apologize over and over to everyone at all of his tables. We ordered the pulled pork with corn bread sides and a cowboy burger with BBQ sauce. The pork was average and everything else was horrible. Dry corn bread and a drenched burger after a two hour wait. Go to the pub next door.

This place was SO bad. We ordered ribs, wings, sweet potato fries, and sides for Mother's Day dinner. We had ordered sides for 5 and received 2 tiny cups (like you get salad dressing in) of cole slaw and mac and cheese. Neither was good, either. The ribs didn't have any sauce, just a really burned on seasoning rub. Corn bread was dry. Wings were ok; sweet potato fries were clearly frozen. There is nothing bbq about this. I would never even consider eating here again.

Great place to eat comfort food, sit outside with your dog, and people-watch in New Hope! Prices are extremely reasonable, and the staff are all really friendly and nice. I ordered the jalapeño burger (special that day), and my husband ordered the wrap with the thousand island dressing. He said his was good, but portion-wise a little small. My burger was fabulous....got the fresh jalapeños on the side, just in case, and I'm glad I did. Free refills, no rush from staff to turn over your table to get the next customers in. Fabulous location. They bring your dog fresh ice water!

Cool spot in a hip neighborhood, but I found the BBQ to be pretty average. Pulled pork was good, but didn't blow me away. Corn bread was kind of boring. Portions were small, which is a downer when you are eating comfort food. The one thing I can say really impressed me was the chili. Thick, chunky and flavorful. This stuff really warms your soul, but I must warn you it packs quite a punch of heat. I would go back definitely for that chili, but the menu wasn't big enough for me to say I have to go back to try something new.

Saturday outing to New Hope lead us to Bitter Bob's and I am very glad it did. It would be difficult to go back to New Hope and try an different restaurant because the food rocked. I had the West End Massive and was afraid but curious. This wrap involves cheeseburger, mozzarella sticks, fries, lettuce, tomato, and onions. Despite the massive in the name it was the perfect sized serving.

Some friends took us to New Hope and remembered a good restaurant being where Bitter Bob's used to be. We stood there contemplating where to go instead and then one by one, we started glancing at the menu and salivating. Everyone was pleased with their order, even the 3-year-old, who got the mac & cheese. It was super cheesy. Yes, I ate a good bit of it after she finished because, hello, mac & cheese. I had the pulled meats combo which was ridiculously cheap: $12, I think. It came with two sides. I got mac & cheese and the cilantro slaw. I didn't taste any cilantro in it really, but it was still good. Jen and Jeanne got the fish tacos (a special that day) and both made lots of mmmm noises. Jason got the chili, which he was very fond of. Only problem: there was no bowl size, only a cup. He was still hungry, so he got some sweet potato fries. I didn't feel gouged as I would expect to feel at a touristy restaurant and I was satisfied with the food. I'd definitely eat there again.

Yum Yum Yum. 1st time at Bitter Bob's and it was good. For starters, we tried the Chicken Fries with Cheddar and Bacon and it was good. I think ours had bbq sauce on it too. The sampler platter I had was juicy and yummy. It came with ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. The corn bread tasted a bit dry which was disappointing. My dish also came with a side so I tried the mac and cheese and it was average. Boyfriend had one of the specials which was pulled pork sandwiched between fried mac and cheese (for buns). I don't remember the name but it was pretty tasty including the mac and cheese and tasted nothing like the one I ordered. Dessert was the main attraction. The coconut cream pie was SO good. It was light and fluffy but still had pieces of coconut that you could taste. I would come back just for the pie.

From the name Bitter Bob's you wouldn't think bbq. And even after eating there...unfortunately I still don't think bbq. Sorry Bob...maybe you should consider changing your venue to a pub and serve pub food. First sign that you're not in a real bbq spot...no wet naps. I don't care how daintily you eat...when you eat bbq you get messy. To me, bbq is the reason the expression 'Finger lickin good' exists. My husband and I each ordered the sampler which comes with pulled pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken and pork ribs plus two sides and a square of cornbread. We so very much wanted to love our meal. The price was right...that much I can say. Other reviewers have said some good stuff about the platter so perhaps it was just the night we went. The four meats in the platter require hours of slow cooking to get right...ours tasted like and had the texture of meat that was done cooking in the morning and either kept under a heat lamp or microwaved to warm up before serving. I started on the meats right to left...and barely made it through. The pulled pork (which is the only meat I ate all of) was ok. The brisket was tough and chewy. The chicken was terrible. The ribs, oh how I LOVE bbq ribs, made me cry. Because they disappointed me. I've had better ribs from Chili's. Yes, I said Chili's. I had such high hopes for you Bob, but you sadly you left me high and dry...and wanting to go to Chili's.

Was with a group of 13 and the waitstaff was attentive and friendly and informative. Bitter Bob came and introduced himself. Food was good but not spectacular. Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was good. Cilantro cole slaw lived up to my soapy expectations. My friends asked for the 2 different sauces to go with her half-rack of ribs. One sauce was average tangy tomato based sauce and the other was just plain vinegar. She ended up combining the two to make a sauce she liked. I still prefer Tennessee BBQ (chain) in Langhorne. Closer and equal or better quality.

My sister and I ended up here when we were looking for an inexpensive meal in New Hope on a shopping trip. My sister ordered the chicken fingers platter and I got the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The portions were HUGE. My roll, although tasty, wasn't structurally sound for all the meat and its juices and I ended up eating it open faced. Everything was more than acceptable, however I think if you're a bbq connoisseur you'd probably be a bit disappointed. The meat, although well cooked, didn't have much flavor by itself. The two sauces likewise didn't have a ton of flavor. I love vinegar sauce so I put that on, but it was nearly clear showing me there isn't much seasoning in it. (Most other places even down south the vinegar sauce was more opaque in nature.) Would I recommend it if you're in town? Definitely. Would I drive out of my way to get here? No.

Three of us went for brunch/lunch and got a good variety of food. We shared a BBQ tasting platter so we could really get a good sampling of their BBQ. I've definitely had better. The ribs weren't fall off the bone type which was disappointing. I do appreciate that they offer alternatives to BBQ on their menu which allowed us to also try the South Trenton Benedict from the brunch menu. That was pretty good but not something I'd necessarily come back for. Then we also got Mac Daddy sandwich which is a heart attack but we couldn't pass it up. We got it with pulled pork which was just okay, but the fried mac and cheese was pretty delicious. I do feel that their menu's are a little limited - they really don't have that many choices so I expected whatever they did have to be 5* worthy. Overall, the food was about average. However, I will say the service was above average which is why I netted out with a 3* review.

As a local and a frequent diner in New Hope/Lambertville area restaurants, my wife and I welcomed a new casual restaurant to the area. There's no other BBQ nearby, so we headed over to Bitter Bob's for a try. We decided to try a few of the traditional BBQ dishes. I got the St. Louis Pork ribs, my wife got the pulled chicken and our son had the braised short ribs (which the waiter enthusiastically recommended). The pork ribs were the best I've had in the area. Tender, meaty and flavorful. I tried both the vinegar and red sauces, and each enhanced the flavors - I would definitely get these again. As sides, I got the sweet potato fries and the bean melange. The consistency of the fries was excellent - nice and crunchy, but they fries themselves lacked the sweetness/saltiness that I'm used to in a great sweet potato fry. The melange was likewise decent but lacked something that would have pushed them up a notch. Our son (a 25 YO foodie) loved the short ribs and said he'd definitely get them again. He's a big vinegar fan, having refined this taste after a year in London. The low point was my wife's pulled chicken which she said was dry and flavorless. I've read other reviews stating that you should avoid the chicken, so clearly this isn't a one-time problem. Overall, if I was rating Bob's on the rib dishes, I'd have given it four-stars - both were delicious, but the chicken was "meh" enough to pull down the experience. Would I go back? Absolutely. It's the only show in town and the meats are excellent. Update: 4/21/2011 Just a quick update to my last visit. They added a "local's night" special - three courses for a bargain price, especially for this area. Since we're locals, we'll definitely be going back regularly. I started with a beef chili, which may have been the best I've ever had. Big chunks of tender beef, some beans, and a nice kick! Really yummy! The special dinners my wife and I had were turkey meatloaf and a chicken thigh dish with tomatillo sauce. The check was stewed slightly, I think, so the meat was tender enough to cut with my fork and flavorful. The meatloaf was much better than I expected - I'm usually not a turkey meatloaf fan, but this had excellent flavor. I'm definitely a fan of this place, which is unique or the New Hope

New Hope has always been a fun day trip destination for me and my friends. You can enjoy the quaintness of the old riverside town, the cute shops that line the main street, and the delicious food and drink. When I saw a 'Comfort food' BBQ joint at the end of the main row we were all pretty jazzed. You could tell this was a relatively new establishment in the area based on the newly decorated indoor arrangement and few customers. It was a scorching hot day, so we opted for the comfort of the air conditioning, where we hoped to order cold beers, but found no alcohol at all. So with virgin iced drinks, we all ordered a bit of BBQ. Getting the pulled pork platter, which comes with corn bread, I had a side of their very creamy macaroni and cheese and their crunchy sweet potato fries. I was impressed with the quality of the BBQ sauce and the tenderness of the meat. I also ordered a side of the cilantro slaw, and found that to be the only real unimpressive part of the meal, offering no real taste or uniqueness. Others who ordered their salad and BBQ chicken sandwiches were happy with the home-style feeling and taste of the food. The prices were relative to the amount of food you received and everyone was pretty pleased with their BBQ experience. I will agree with others yelpers in saying that this place needs to step up their appearance. The interior resembled more of a New American café than a BBQ joint making homemade sauce and delicious cornbread. I don't know if I need some banjo pickin' whittler in the corner, but maybe some southern garb would do the place well. Overall Bitter Bob's is a nice low-key and mildly inexpensive place to top off your New Hope experience.

We stopped at Bitter Bob's on a Saturday night in November. I ordered the BBQ sampler with the cilantro slaw and sweet potato fries. My wife ordered the pulled pork entree with the mac and cheese -- we also got an a la carte order of BBQ chicken cheese and bacon fries. The place is cozy and would imagine on a very busy night that things are hectic (about half the tables were full during our visit). I enjoyed the St. Louis ribs -- they were fantastic. The BBQ chicken was also very good. Cilantro slaw had a nice flavor. Sweet potato fries were crinkle-cut and most likely from a big manufaturer. My wife's pulled pork was, well, no really pulled and she had to pull about 2/3rds of it herself. No smokiness in the meat. BBQ sauce was average. The Brisket = not good -- it was tough, no smokiness in flavor. The mac and cheese seemed a bit off with it's flavor. The cornbread, however, was great. The wait staff was great and did an excellent job. Overall this place is ok and is a nice addition to New Hope. But if you are are looking for KC-style BBQ, or NC-style then this isn't your place

After our original meal here, decided to book my brother's 50th birthday party. 22 people. Everything was perfect! Setup the inside room for us. All food came out quickly and as ordered. No one had to wait while others ate. Don't know how they did it. Had everything from the BBQ to soft shell crabs and no complaints from anyone. Brought our own cake and the crew did a great job bringing it out on cue. Service was excellent - thank you Rachael!

Heard about Bitter Bob's from a client of mine. She raved about it so I talked a girlfriend into giving it a try for lunch. It was during the week so it wasn't that busy. Our waiter was wonderful. We had a few question about the menu and he was right on top of everything. We both ended up getting the sampler. Which is really the way to go!! And we were both very happy with out meal. The set up of the restaurant was cute. Kind of small but very cute. The owner (Bob) came out and started chatting with my friend and I. It was great to here his backround with food and how he came about opening Bitter Bob's! We wrote a nice review on one of there review cards. I never put my email down but decided to and I get emails once and a while for promotions. I was very happy with Bitter Bob's... Looking forward to go back!!

Spent a lovely evening at Bitter Bob's last night with a party of five. All my dining companions enjoyed their bbq, but I opted for a salad and a starter with hummus and a delicious pear and gorgonzola dip -- fabulous! We all went home with enough leftovers for lunch today. Bob is a gracious host, the servers are very helpful and the outdoor seating made for a great evening with friends. Thanks, Bob!

Bitter Bob's BBQ is the coziest, friendliest, and most delicious BBQ that I've had in a very long time. Everything is super fresh and cooked with a serious love of the art of barbecue!! The staff were very attentive and pleasant...an all around awesome and affordable good time meal!! Just what New Hope needed!!! Don't miss it!!

This BYOB joint along the main drag in New Hope advertises authentic BBQ. We stopped there for lunch one recent Saturday. The wait staff was very good, polite but not pushy. We sat outside; it was a niceday and a good chance to people watch. My younger son had the Mac and Cheese- a cut above Kraft dinner, and he was fine. My wife and older son had the BBQ sampler; I had the half rack of St. Louis style ribs. I'm not sure if it is the St. Louis style, but the meat, while tender, didn't seem to be what I call BBQ-ed; it looked grilled, but there was no smoke ring or smoke taste. Two sauces, a sweeter lowest common denominator sauce, and a tangier vinegar-based sauce with a pepper-flake kick, were offered, and were both very nice. We all had sweet potato fries on the side- they were pretty good, too. So the meat was tasty, particularly with the vinegar sauce on it, but if you're a purist, it technically isn't what I would call BBQ. If that's a deal-breaker, I would seek elsewhere, if it's just a tasty meal you're after, you could do worse.

I stopped by Bitter Bob's last weekend while in New Hope. I was hoping to find a reprieve from the high end restaurants dominating the street. I had no desire to drop a fifty on a designer lunch. While walking down Main St we came upon Bitter Bob's and decided that it met what we were looking for. Its BYOB but in the 90* weather I wasn't complaining at the bottomless Lemonade. My boyfriend opted for the unsweetened Ice Tea. We were sat outside per our request in the shade. It was a good spot to people watch as we ate. The lunch menu was small which actually is a good sign in my book, because you don't have to offer the world to be great, just be good at what you do. There were numerous sandwiches but we came for one reason and that was BBQ. We ordered two apps. My Boyfriend got the chili and I had the Wedge Salad. His chili was great but not very spicy, it was the clear winner in the app department though. My wedge salad was good but the blue cheese was not very strong. It was very mild and the dressing was Russian not the advertised Ranch, odd considering the standard is Blue Cheese Dressing. We both ordered the BBQ combo with two different sides. I thought it was a good price at the time for $10.95. Then it came to the table. I was a bit underwhelmed. First its suppose to be "authentic" BBQ. I'm sure the meat was slow cooked because it was tender, but it was not smoked, or if it was there was no hint of it in the food. There were no signature smoke rings and no distinct aroma from the place signifying a smoker in the back. The next disappointment came from the portion size. My appetizer salad had just about as much food as my lunch plate. 2-3 bites each of pulled chicken, brisket, and pork, with an end rib portion that was tough and not particularly flavorful. The sides were better but sides do not make a restaurant. There was a BBQ Bean mixture which I give points to for its use of several different beans in addition to the standard navy beans. I uncovered both Lima and Garbanzo beans. The Mac and Cheese was otherwise forgettable seeming as if it should have been on the kids section of the menu. The Cole slaw was good as it was not creamy as much as it was vinegary with a generous amount of cilantro which made it unique. After eating I stepped into the restaurant to see the decor and was a little shocked. It did not look like a BBQ place at all. I know it is the restaurants grand opening but as far as the decor is concerned it looks like it was just serving cafe food last week. I know they were trying to conserve money but there are some things you can't skimp on. A BBQ joint needs to look like a BBQ joint, especially with the amount of biking enthusiasts that come through the town. They don't want to eat at Cafe Lulu, the want to eat at Bitter Bob's. So please make it a little bitter and jaded. Lastly don't be tossing around the "authentic BBQ" card when the food is clearly not smoked. The quality of the meat could have been achieved on a stove top. You can't count on sauce to save you.

We took a friend to New Hope for Sunday brunch last weekend. Considered a few options before deciding on Bitter Bob's because of the outdoor seating and a previous decent, though basic, experience there with breakfast. What a mistake! The place was overrun by the biker crowd of regulars and the staff was unable to handle it. We waited 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us with a drinks order. Food took an hour despite complaints to the harried waiter and others who arrived after us being served their food, paying and leaving while we still waiting for eggs. I ordered the fruit cup with yogurt. This being August, I assumed the cup would consist of fresh local peaches, plums, cherries, strawberries. Instead, it was only styrofoam-tasting honeydew with room temp yogurt. What a disappointment! When omelettes finally arrived, they couldn't have been more bland and tasteless. I literally couldn't eat it and I'm not that picky! Same with the two gentlemen who were my dining companions. I went inside to speak with the frazzled manager, who apologized and reminded me that it is normally much better than this experience. She may be right, but we had invested nearly 2 hours in a meal that was ultimately inedible. I will say that she did comp our meal and offered profuse apologies. One thing she could not apologize for was the steady roar of the Harley Davidson's parked at the curb 5 feet from our table. The noise was deafening and constant and the smell of the fumes nauseating- I honestly could not hear my dining companions and it was all very stressful, which explains the state of the poor serving team. Unfortunately, I doubt we will return anytime soon for a Sunday Brunch with so many other good options closeby.

One of the best burgers I've had in the U.S. (seriously!). Great location in the heart of lovely New Hope, PA. Great for sitting outside on a sunny day. One star taken off because of the cheap plastic chairs and the absence of alcohol license (although you can bring your own, but it's not the same...)

I always have such a hard time going to these type of places with friends because I am vegan. But Bitter Bobs actually has a very, very tasty vegan sandwich called the Treehugger! It is barbequed seitan on a multigrain bun with some tasty sweet potato fries! I am looking forward to my next visit with my meat eating fiancee!

Best Barbecue I've had in a long while. On a sunny Sunday afternoon in November my wife and I stopped in. I had the brisket which was tender to perfection, and the rub, smoke and slow heat had infused the meat with that flavor that only comes from a really good barbecue. The sauce was homemade and much better than the average BBQ joint red stuff, but the thing about it was that it made the most perfect taste marriage with the meat that I've ever encountered. Really spectacular. The greens were the best I've ever had, and I've had a lot of good greens. The coleslaw was interesting and refreshing on the palate, but kind of in a new cuisine way, not in a down homey way. My wife loved her BBQ sampler, beans and slaw, and I loved the taste I got later at home from her left overs, (big portions). I can't wait to come back.

LOVED the food! Great atmosphere, terrific for families without being too "family-ish". There's something for everybody. I'm from South Texas and thought the brisket was abolutely fantastic. Will definitely do the sandwich next time. The ribs were outstanding, done with a perfect rub and obviously slooooowwwww cooked. The meat was juicy, tender and falling off the bone. The sampler platter is an amazing value and every bite was super flavorful without being too spicy. The pork and chicken were both super tender (especially the pork) and tasty. Our little boys loved their ribs and the mac n cheese. I thought my husband was going to cry when he realized we'd left our "to go" bag at the table. We can't wait to go back! GET DESSERT! I am not a coconut cream pie person, or at least I wasn't until last night but the waiter STRONGLY recemmended it so we had to give it a try. It was life changing DELICIOUSNESS! (Review below mine says no wet naps, which is surprising because they brought us much needed wet naps without us asking).

Stopped by on a Sunday for an impromptu lunch. As locals we do this quite often to the local eateries. My husband is a carnavore, I a vegetarian. We both ordered the burritos, his bbq chicken, mine with veg beans. Both were very delicious! I could hook up an IV of the celantro slaw and be a happy woman. Happy to see the bruch crowd is catching on. Owners and staff are super friendly. My only critisism is the sign; looks shoddy They need a carved sign like the other shops. Gives credibility and it looks like they are here to stay and mean it.

Best BBQ around. Smoked in house. Great sides. Homemade desserts. Friendly staff. Really great ambiance. The meat was fall off the bone. Everything tasted fresh and smoked. Nothing was dry. Not even the chicken. Byob iwasnt a problem. We went to Frans Pub for beer to go. Walked out of there stuffed to the gills and the bill was 22 dollars. Don't pass this one by in New Hope. We had a great culinary experience. Nothing like it around.

After a long day of climbing at Ralph Stover my friends and I needed some good food so we headed to Fran's. By luck I happened to smell and then see the food from Bitter Bob's. I talked the group in to eating here which was not very hard after they checked out the menu . First we stopped by Fran's, but not for food for beer to go. Obviously Bob's is BYOB so if you do plan on drinking get beer or wine before you head over. Once there we decided to sit outside in the garden area which is very nice. I decided to order the pulled pork sandwich which was delicious. My fiancee got the sampling platter which I tried and was also very good. Our waitress was very personable and very helpful. Prices were reasonable and Bob's is not trendy at all which is more then I can say for many of the New Hope eateries. Very enjoyable experience.

The last time I was here my gentleman friend and I shared a Porkstrocity, along with some fries and Mac and cheese. I can safely say their portions are hefty, considering we are not at all modest people, and can eat huge amounts when the time calls for it (as barbecue often does). Even splitting it, the meal was too big for the both of us. Take from that what you will; large portions can be good or bad depending on circumstance. If you're watching your weight or your wallet, perhaps this is not an establishment that caters to you. I enjoyed the food well enough, the only mediocre item was the Mac and cheese, and I love their names for their dishes too. The only thing that detracted from my enjoyment was siting outside on a chilly day. If you're super hungry and nearby, checking it out can't hurt.

Ordered take out on a Thursday night in winter, the restaurant was empty when I stopped to get the food I ordered. I got a full rack of ribs that were the driest ribs I've ever had, the outside of the rack of ribs was hard as if it was over cooked. I'm going to try the restaurant again in the busy summer season with hopes that the quality is much better when the food turnover is higher. I love BBQ food and was really looking forward to the rack of ribs we order.

This is usually the breakfast on any giving Sunday that I'm off and taking a ride on my bike. Usually with riding friends or/and wife. I've only had the pleasure of having breakfast here, but had it many enough times that I can write a review. This place use to be called Lucy's. They offer many tables outside and it's great to enjoy the weather on a nice sunny day and the roar and fumes from bikes running down the main strip. Place gets jam packed pretty early so definitely recommend you go there before 10am if you don't want to wait long. They also offer inside dinning but it's not that big and for me, eating outside makes the meal that much sweeter. I usually get their banana or pancake short stack and their "Bowl of Deliciousness". This dish should really be called "Bowl of Crack", as it's very very addictive and good. They basically season and fry up some potatoes and put it on the bottom of the bowl, next is your desired meat (sausage, bacon, ham, etc), this gets layered on top of the potatoes. Then you have the choice of eggs (scrambled, sunny side, etc), this as I'm sure you know by now gets added on top of the sausage and then you glue all the layers with cheese and Eggs Benedict's type sauce. I told you this should be called Bowl of Crack. Everything is very happy in that bowl and once you take a spoonful and gently place it in your mouth, you won't be able to hide your Tourette's like symptoms from your nearby friends eating with you. I can't wait for Philly to snap out of this winter frozen state of depression, so I can throw my leg over my bike, grab the wife, hit up a few mates and head down to Bitter Bobs for some good old fashioned food and scenery and of course, hit my bowl of crack, I mean deliciousness.

Went there to eat with friends. Good atmosphere. Waitress was attentive. Gave the place 3 stars because friends food was good. Appetizer was small for the cost but good. I personally did not like my main course. I ordered the grouper fish special. I would like to think that going with the special is supposed to be blowing my mind, but it fell way short. The fish had no flavor and was not cooked fully, so appetizing it was not. I didn't want to bring it up to them as it was as clear to everyone at the table that it was not cooked fully. It should not been served. As such I filled myself on corn bread and pickles. Feel lousy I spent 22.00 on a special that was inedible. Just visiting, but If I return, going to get BBQ.

In my opinion I think the service and the food there was poor. Do you know how a waitress is supposed to check in and ask if anyone needs anything. Our waitress checked in with us 3-4 times. The drinks took forever to come out and the waitress brought the wrong drink. In addition to the mix up of seltzer and sprite. Our waitress dropped our drinks on the way to the table. My brother and his friend asked what was in the steak and out waitress said a light glazing of rosemary sauce, but when the steak came out. It was covered in spicy mustard and the side of Mashed potatoes tasted horrible. In my brothers friends' steak he found a piece of hair and his Mac and cheese tasted like they scrapped the bottom of the pot and served it to him. My brother and his friends were furious. The fries that me and my sister ordered tasted old. Surprisingly they exchanged or fries with fresh fries. I found a spider in my chicken when I cut the first bite. I think it's great that the allow dogs outside, but they shouldn't allow dogs just wondering around the seating area. This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. You would be more satisfied eating food out of the garbage

Our server Cheryl was so sweet and kind! She was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu! My husband and I ate there for our anniversary and we couldn't have been happier!! We ordered a burger that was a special!! OMG I seriously MEAN IT when I say it was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my Life!!! Holy cow it was THAT GOOD! I definitely would recommend this place to everyone And anyone!!! Delish!!! Thanks for a memorable evening Bitter Bobs!!!

This place was great. We went today, it was sunny, cool air, and crowded on the street. There was immediate seating outside. There was a hostess to greet you but we were able to pick where we wanted to sit. We sat down, the server came right over, and right back with our drinks. I don't think it was even 2 minutes. She was read us the specials, which we both ordered. My friend got the bread cone, I got the ribeye sandwich. The drinks, food, and check all came in a timely manner. No waiting, no looking around for the server. I would def go back. And like other posters, I would bring my dog!

I'll keep this short and sweet, just like Bitter Bob's kept me waiting and deafened by their blaring, skipping recorded music. Maybe I shouldn't be so scathing. I only tried one dish and the service wasn't too bad. The music did skip for a few minutes but eventually they fixed it. And my date was very enthused to take me to her favorite place to eat in town, so I'll try to be more objective. I ordered the Bowl of Deliciousness with mashed potatoes, pulled pork, macaroni and cheese. I wasn't very impressed. The mac and cheese reminded me of a Stouffer's TV dinner. Perhaps it was because the Bowl had so many different, stronger flavors, but it seemed tasteless to me. The mashed potatoes were only partially mashed. There were full chunks of potatoes with it, skins attached. Not sure if this is the norm at Bob's, but "mashed potatoes" is a misnomer in this case. The pulled pork, cheese sauce, and barbecue sauce could be described as competent, even workmanlike. There wasn't much flair to it, not much to make it any different from a similar dish from a chain restaurant. Certainly something from a barbecue joint should stand out more than this. Overall, I was disappointed by the prices and what I received for them. A single visit isn't enough for me to write off a place entirely, however. Odds are I'll be back, maybe Bitter Bob's can do more to wow me that time around.

This restaurant has a lot of work to do. For a place that has been in new hope for so long I'm surprised they are still open for the level of service they give. We sat down at 3 pm on a Sunday - very busy when we sat down. We ordered and shortly after the hostess began turning people away saying they aren't seating again until 430pm. Bad sign for us. We waited for fourty minutes for some bad BBQ. Like the waitress checked in once to see if we wanted more water (byob) and never suggested an app or let us know the kitchen was so behind. Really it was not worth the wait. How do you send out luke warm food when the restaurant is catching up. Oh and then we waited for a check while the three waitresses swept the floor and "prepared" for the next seating.

The food is very bland. If you're looking for flavorful BBQ, then go somewhere else! Service is fast and friendly, but everything needed seasoning badly. The cornbread is sour. The BBQ pulled pork quesadillas were decent once you add sour cream, salsa and salt/pepper. Honestly, I wouldn't return or recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointing. I would have had a better BBQ experience at famous Dave's. We ordered the brisket platter and it came out slopped on a plate like beef spaghetti. Will not return Would not recommend

The short ribs were terrible! Do not get them. I'm only giving a 3 star because the waitress was very nice and the ribs had a dry rub which is the only kind of BBQ I like. I took the family there and it was underwhelming. Sorry to see as we spend a lot of time here.

My friends and I had dinner at Bitter Bobs on Friday. We had such an amazing time, from the staff to the food and the ambience. We made last minute reservations the night before for a party of 12, the hosts and owner were so wonderful to help us plan our dinner with only 24 hours notice. They even agreed to put together a last minute pre-fixe menu for our group! We showed up and had a beautiful table set up outside, our server was Sheryl and she came over as soon as we sat down. She was incredibly attentive and helpful through the whole meal, we really appreciated her effort. The food was SO delicious that we're all still talking about it! We started with pork and chicken quesadillas and a salad. For entree we had pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket and ribs- all served family style- with sides of beans, Mac and cheese, and asparagus. We will all absolutely be back! Thank you Bob and the gang for making our friends birthday dinner one for the books!

Just walk by this place and you will be lured in by that sweet succulent BBQ smell! I came here thinking I would try their sampler BBQ platter, but after reading their eclectic menu decided to be adventurous and try their Mac Daddy (tender pulled pork placed between to thick slices of fried mac'n cheese). This is definitely not a dish for those weak in the knees. I must admit that the description of this dish over glorifies the experience. See the idea of fried mac'n cheese is much better then the actual experience...much like fried oreos for me. The mac'n cheese turned out to be a great crispy crust, but a very dry inside too. What can I say, some classics are not meant to be tampered with. I will say that the pulled pork was amazing and will definitely be returning for my original craving which was the BBQ platter (that my friend got and looked amazing). My boyfriend ate a cheeseburger wrap and he loved it as well. I will hands down be returning, the service was extremely friendly, the place is dog friendly and I commend them for attempting to fry mac and cheese.

So were walking around New Hope and got hungry and knew there is a burger joint that we were originally going to. When we got there they wouldn't let us sit because we had a dog (my small little coton de tulear) with us (due to a fine they got). They told us Bitter Bob's was dog friendly and so we walked over to it and got seated right away. It was sunny so they nice waitress got us an umbrella and put it on the table (taking a couple tries because the first one was broken). It was very nice of her and finally she was able to open it up. They brought a water bowl for my dog which she really appreciated on that warm day. Just a warning it's BYOB and my boyfriend went next door and got beers- three plain beers for $18!!! We ordered the Bowl of Deliciousness with Mac and Cheese, Mashed Potatoes with Brisket. it was SO delicious! Great combo. We both had the burger of the day which was with cheddar, fried onions with bbq sauce. It was so flavorful. We really enjoyed it. We will definitely be coming there next time!

Great, tasty food. We had the sampler, and there wasn't a single thing on there we didn't like (loved the Mac and cheese). Always happy to find a genuine homemade bbq place. This was our second visit and it's quickly becoming a regular stop here in New Hope.

Bring your appetite, the portions are generous!

Great service by a great waiter. Excellently prepared food. Delicious. Sat outside which was fun to watch people go by. FUN place. All this and dog friendly patio too. Loved it!

  • Jessenia C.

  • Naura S.
